Wise County Public Schools will operate on a 2-Hour Delay on Friday, September 27, 2024, due to the forecasted weather conditions. If any changes to the schedule are made, we will notify everyone by 8:00am.

September's Farmers Market is tomorrow, September 19th.


CMS will begin After School Remediation next Tuesday, September 24th. We will be sending letters home this week if it is recommended for your child to attend. This will also be an opportunity for your child to make up time if they are considered chronically absent. A student is considered chronically absent if they have missed more than 10% of days that we have been in attendance. Please call the school at 276-395-2135 and ask to speak to Mr. Mooney if you have any questions.

Hello CMS Families:
This is a reminder that all student drop off & pick ups need to be in the upper parking lot. AS OF 9/6/24 NO STUDENTS ARE PERMITTED TO BE PICKED UP IN THE FRONT PARKING LOT, ON THE ROAD, OR IN THE CROSSWALK AREA.

Coeburn area buses will be conducting bus evacuation drills this afternoon. Please be patient and expect a slight delay in the time that students will return home.

We will be having vision screenings on Wednesday, August 21st for all 5th & 7th grade students. It is very important for these students to be present at school if possible. Thank you so much in advance!

Volleyball tryouts for any 6-8th grader interested in playing volleyball will be on Monday, August 5th from 6-8PM at EHS.
Additionally, equipment handout and practice for middle school football will be tomorrow at 3:00 at the EHS Fieldhouse.

This is a message to all incoming 7th Grade Parents: All 7th grade students are required to have the Tdap & meningitis vaccine. Documentation must be on file before Thursday, August 8th. Questions? Contact Mr. Meade in the guidance office Tuesday or Wednesday next week between 8-3:30.

Band Camp will be this week Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm at Eastside High School. Any interested 7th or 8th grade student is encouraged to attend! Lunch will be provided by the band boosters.

The Virginia Department of Social Services will issue a one-time $120 food benefit through
Virginia SUN Bucks beginning August 2024 to children who qualify. Children qualify and are
automatically enrolled in Virginia SUN Bucks if they receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or an income-based Medical Assistance Program (Medicaid). If you are not enrolled in SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid you can apply and potentially qualify for Virginia SUN Bucks by visiting VirginiaSunBucks.com and mailing the application to:

Applications will not be available until July 1, when the webpage goes live. The Application for SUN Bucks will require you to enter your child’s “Local Student ID Number.”
Contact the school your child attends to get this number. If you qualify, SUN Bucks benefits will be distributed beginning August 2024 on a rolling basis and will be loaded onto your current SNAP EBT Card or a Virginia SUN Bucks card.
