Individual Student Alternative Education Plan (ISAEP)
Overview
This program option offers the opportunity for students who are behind in credits at the high school level to complete the GED prior to turning 18. Direct instruction is enhanced with a multi-media approach and computer assistance. Students will take pre-tests prior to taking the GED and will receive instruction in areas of weakness before attempting the four-part GED test.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be enrolled in a Wise County Public School and meet the following criteria: have reading and math skills at or above fifth grade level, have repeated failure of courses, have inability to succeed in the general school setting, be at-risk of dropping out of school, and must be at least 17 years old.
Admission Procedures
The student, parent, home school counselor and principal must complete an application for the ISAEP Program. Appropriate students will be scheduled for achievement testing and an interview. The AEC school counselor, AEC principal, and ISAEP teacher will make recommendations for acceptance or denial and the director of the ISAEP program must grant final approval for acceptance.
