Wise County Public Schools Pre-K Registration for the 2025-2026 school year begins next week!


Due to the presence of black ice and some snow covered roads, Wise County Public Schools will operate on a Code 3 Schedule today, Thursday, March 6, 2025!
Code 3 is a virtual learning day for students.


Due to the weather that is forecasted to impact our area, Wise County Public Schools will operate on a Code 2 schedule tomorrow, Thursday, March 6, 2025!
Code 2 schedule is a 2-Hour Delay for our students.


Wise County Public Schools has made the decision to release our Coeburn area schools (Eastside High School, Coeburn Primary School, and Coeburn Middle School) at 1:15pm today, Tuesday, March 4, 2025!
Our staff is working with Coeburn Fire Department and other entities to ensure that Coeburn Primary School is safe for our students as the source of the odor has not been determined, so we will release these schools at 1:15pm.


Out of an abundance of caution, Coeburn Primary School has evacuated its students to Eastside as we investigate a smell of smoke at the primary school. Students will be returned to school as soon as we clear the building.

From our Food Services Department:
In anticipation of virtual learning days due to inclement weather, the Food Services Program will be sending home with students 2 days of meals, including 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches on the following days:
Tuesday, 1/28 - UPS
Wednesday, 1/29 - SPE, CPS, EHS
Thursday, 1/30 - CMS, UMS, UHS, WPS, LFA, CHS
Friday, 1/31 - JWA
This does not mean virtual learning is scheduled.


We were thankful to get our students back in school today and get our 2nd semester started after all the weather related issues this month!
With the sunshine and warm weather that we had today, we are happy to announce that Wise County Public Schools will operate on a REGULAR schedule on Tuesday, January 28, 2025!

We look forward to welcoming our students back, but we will be monitoring the forecasted weather in the morning. If a change to the schedule is to be made, it will be announced by 8am.
