Dear Coeburn & St. Paul Communities, Please help our Paws & Claws Club fill this table up with pet food and pet supply donations that we will be giving to the Wise County Animal Shelter. They are needing pet food, cat litter, cleaning supplies (especially bleach), old towels, blankets, toys, etc. Our drive starts today and ends Monday- Sept. 11th. Our donation table is located in the Common's Area in front of the main office. Thank you so much for your support!

Wise County Attendance Policy Parents are permitted to use 5 parent notes per semester to excuse absences for sickness, family emergencies, etc. (turn excuses into Mrs. Salyer in ISS before 1st Block within 3 days of the absence) Once reaching 5 absences in a semester, only Dr's excuses will be accepted for the remainder of that semester to excuse absences (a letter will be mailed home notifying you of this) Once a student reaches 5 unexcused absences in a school year, staff from Eastside will be in touch with you and/or your student to discuss a plan to improve attendance. A mandatory parent conference is scheduled at 6 unexcused absences 7 or more unexcused absences will result in a referral to the truancy officer A student who misses 10% of school (an average of 2 excused/unexcused days per month) is considered chronically absent. Chronically absent students may miss out on special privileges/activities such as school dances, field trips, etc. Parent/Student Tips For Improving Attendance -Set a regular bedtime and morning routine -Lay out clothes, pack backpacks, lunches, etc. the night before -Have back up plans for getting to school in case something unexpected comes up. -Utilize the school bus to improve tardy issues -Schedule all possible appointments around school when possible. Don't miss an entire day for a local appt. We would much rather a student be late or checked out early versus missing a whole day.

ATTN: Eastside Parents/Guardians: SNAP codes were emailed to parents and guardians yesterday. This is the online access code for the student registration update. This is required to be completed and includes all required forms such as the OTC medications allowed to be given at school and who is allowed to check out your student from school. This also ensures that we have updated phone numbers so parents don't miss out on important phone calls. Parents and guardians who have a new email address that is not on file, should contact the guidance department directly at 276-395-3380.
