Once reaching 5 total absences in a semester, only Dr’s excuses will be accepted to excuse absences, when/if you reach that point, a letter will be mailed home notifying you of this each semester (must be turned in within 3 days of absence to be accepted)
Once a child reaches 5 unexcused absences in a school year, staff from Eastside will be in contact with you and/or your student to discuss a plan to improve attendance

PARENT/STUDENT TIPS FOR IMPROVING ATTENDANCE
• Set a regular bed time and morning routine
• Lay out clothes, pack backpacks, school lunches, etc. the night before
• Send child to school every day unless they are truly sick ie., running a fever, blisters in back of throat, mysterious rash, etc. Always remember, we have a school nurse for minor symptoms.
• Develop back up plans for getting to school if something unexpected comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent
• Utilize the school bus to improve tardy issues
• Schedule all possible appointments around school. Don’t miss an entire day for a local appt.
• Make sure to make arrangements to get make-up work ASAP when a student has to miss school

There is still time to bring donation items as the bus will be leaving (driven by our own Carol Hall) from Eastside tomorrow at 3:30 sharp! Supplies will be taken to Letcher County Central High School! Thank you so much to those, who have donated ❤️ Proud to be a Spartan!
