Each year the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) recognizes professional school counselors during the second week of February for their crucial role in public education. Our school counselors are school-based mental health professionals who possess a rare combination of training and experience that makes them a unique and integral part of our total educational program. Through comprehensive, data-informed school counseling programs, our school counselors improve a range of student learning and behavioral outcomes. They support both the closing of achievement gaps and help maximize student success by providing counseling, academic and career development interventions, and mental health supports.
We are thankful for our School Counselors and all that they do for our students!
